RF-over-fiber for Broadcast

The broadcast industry is employing more and more RF-over-fiber, particularly in outside broadcast applications. Optical fiber is small in diameter and very lightweight compared to coaxial cable.

The broadcast industry places great demands on its equipment. Product has to be rapidly deployable, high performance, very reliable and always available. Combining the experience of our military and commercial operations, PPM has developed RF-over-fiber links specifically for the transmission of DVB signals. These are used extensively in outside broadcast as well as fixed installations. Some of our products use the rugged and reliable Lemo K series fibre optic connector. The electrical version of this connector is already used widely within the industry.

The use of rugged optical connectors results in a very reliable and easily deployable system. PPM uses the Lemo K series optical connector system due to its proven performance and reliability in demanding conditions. Broadcast users will be familiar with this connector type in its electrical contact versions.
