RF-over-fiber for OEMs

PPM's ViaLite OEM RF-over-fiber modules allow Original Equipment Manufacturers to quickly add an optical interface to their existing product. The compact OEM module is designed to be easy to use, removing the need for detailed knowledge of optical fibre technology.

All of PPM's comprehensive plug-in module range is also available in OEM format, including the following:

• L-band 950-2150MHz
• 70/140MHz (10-200MHz)
• GPS RF
• Broadcast (470-860MHz)
• General Purpose (10-1000MHz)
• Broadband (up to 3GHz)

The OEM Modules are fully compatible and interchangeable with the plug-in modules. This allows a system to comprise a mixture of plug-in and OEM module types.

The OEM Module also provides users with the ability to feed an LNA or GPS Antenna with a supply voltage via the RF input of the optical transmitter.

Outdoor Housing Compatibility

The OEM Modules are also compatible with PPM's Outdoor Housing. This compact, robust and versatile product allows users to house up to three OEM modules including RF-over-fiber transmitters or receivers, RF splitters, redundancy switches, data-over-fiber modules etc in a waterproof enclosure suitable for outdoor installation in tough environmental conditions. The Outdoor Housing features a wide range of options including dual redundant power supplies; LNA voltage feed; remote alarm monitoring; mains or DC supply voltage.

In common with PPM's other fibre optic products, the Outdoor Housing is designed to be used with little or no previous knowledge of optical fibre installation and use.

In addition to providing the fibre optic transmitters and receivers, PPM can supply pre-terminated fibre optic cables for internal, external and riser applications. These ruggedised cable assemblies are delivered complete with pulling boots and installation instructions, removing the need for on-site fusion splicing and connector termination.
