PPM Extends Bandwidth Limits on Wideband RF-over-Fibre Link

2nd July 2008 - PPM announce a replacement to it’s popular ViaLite 10MHz - 3GHz wideband module, with the introduction of a new 2kHz – 4.2GHz fibre optic link.  This new link extends previous limits in the ViaLite product range at both low and high frequency ends of the spectrum.  The 2kHz – 4.2GHz bandwidth is available in both 19” rack mountable modules and small form factor OEM modules.

PPM’s ViaLite Wideband Fibre Optic Link supports transmission of RF signals in the bandwidth 2kHz - 4200MHz over a single optical fibre channel.  It provides a high performance, high reliability, transparent cross-site connection between RF communications equipment.  The wideband RF channel is independent of signal format, and together with its inherently low phase noise performance, the link is suitable for almost any type of analogue or digital signal modulation including FM and QPSK.  High reliability, comprehensive alarm and status monitoring and wide dynamic range result in a highly flexible product suitable for a wide range of installations.

Applications for the new 2kHz – 4.2GHz Fibre Optic Link include SatCom IF, L band and C Band down links, secure antenna remoting and control for special forces or government applications, bi-directional configurations for TETRA, cellular or WIMAX repeaters, distributed antenna capability with single transmit to multiple receive modules.

Prototyping the new 2kHz – 4.2GHz Wideband Fibre Optic Link is complete and production shipping will commence later in 2008.
